Describe the concern, not just the cut
Tell us which part of the tree needs attention and why. Include nearby buildings, pathways or other trees, and explain any parts of the canopy you want to retain. Photos from more than one safe position can make the description clearer.
Pruning, trimming and lopping
People use tree lopping, trimming and pruning to describe different kinds of work. Tell us whether you want clearance, particular branches addressed or a tree removed entirely. We can discuss the tree and the outcome before a scope is agreed; indiscriminate cutting is not the goal.
Need the whole tree removed?Keep the whole tree in view
A single branch can be the immediate concern, but its relationship to the rest of the tree matters. If you have noticed a change, damage or previous work, add that information to your enquiry. An assessment may be needed before a suitable approach is recommended.
Plan around your home and garden
Mention access, garden beds, fences and outdoor areas beneath the tree. Discuss where the removed material will go and whether you would like any wood or mulch retained.
Pruning may still need approval
Protection rules can apply to pruning as well as complete removal. Check with the relevant council before work on protected vegetation and share any conditions that apply.
